With over 30 years of teaching experience, I bring the adventure of music-making right into the student's own home.

Who am I?
  • Passionate educator committed to a lifetime of learning how to teach so that people can learn
  • Qualified (ARCT) piano teacher with experience in working with students who range in age from pre-kindergarten to grandmothers, and from tiny Beginners up through Royal Conservatory Level 9.
  • Member of the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers Association (try saying that ten times fast!) and Canadian Registered Music Teachers Association.
  • Active musician involved in church music, composing, and occasional collaboration with other musicians.

Why do I teach piano?
  • Every person, regardless of ability, has the potential to make and enjoy music.
  • Every person thinks, learns, and creates differently. Piano lessons should support and celebrate the unique strengths of each individual.
  • Learning the piano should be a voyage of discovery. Confident note reading, playing "by ear", composing, and games can be a part of that journey.
  • The study of music, at any age, strengthens the mind, develops the character, and enriches the life of the musician.
  • I love it!

What makes 88keys4music different?
  • Theory Club Group Classes. Students meet regularly in small groups to learn how music works, and how to write it. These classes are a fun, social way for your child to explore the mechanics of music. Each class includes the opportunity to play for one another, so that performing becomes a natural part of music study.
  • Online lessons available: You have the option to learn in the comfort of your own home, or mix and match with in-studio lessons.
  • Exciting practice incentive programs. Students compete with themselves, not with others. Success is measured by meeting their own unique challenges. Each student has
                  -  Personalized goals for which to strive
                  -  A program designed especially for their unique abilities
                  -  Individual creative opportunities to explore
  • Use of technology to support music learning. Students have opportunity to use various apps, either at home or during the lesson, to strengthen rhythm and reading skills. Tutoring in computer notation (music writing) software is  available as each student becomes ready.
  • Bonus group activities each school year to practice performance skills, build a sense of community,  and just have fun together
  • Studio-licensed music, purchased from living composers, and printed specifically (and legally) for your student to enjoy
  • Lending library providing a wide variety of music to try and enjoy
  • Low-key, family-friendly recitals
